Acerca de Vitaly

De origen Ruso-cubano nació en Leópolis (Львiв), Ucrania 1968, hijo de madre Rusa. Desde muy pequeño viaja en compañía de sus padres a Cuba y no es hasta los 4 años que se establece en la isla.

En el año 1994 se graduó de arquitectura y de forma autodidacta se especializó en la talla en madera. Ha sido miembro del Fondo Cubanos de Bienes Culturales como artista independiente desde 1997 al 2010.

Ha participado en numerosas exposiciones colectivas y muestras internacionales. Sus obras se encuentran en colecciones privadas de países como: España, Francia, Rusia, Costa Rica, México, Italia, Canadá y Cuba.

Fue miembro de jurados en eventos escultóricos y comisiones de condecoración de personalidades de la cultura Cubana.

Desde el 2010 se encuentra viviendo en España de forma permanente con su familia, donde realiza su labor artística y docente.

En Enero de 2009 la obra «Espuelas, fuego y pasión» es seleccionada para formar parte del fondo de obras de arte para regalos de primer nivel del Consejo de Estado de la República de Cuba; la misma fue obsequiada al presidente del Estado ruso Dmitriy Medvedev en el marco de la visita oficial que realizó el presidente Raúl Castro Ruz a este país en febrero de 2009.

About Vitaly

Vitaly Garcia Sigoenko was born in Lviv city, Ukraine (former USSR) on November 24th, 1968. A year after, he moved to Cuba with his parents.

In 1994, he graduated from Architecture gaining great skills in scale model developing. It was not until 1997 that he decided to devote himself entirely to sculpture.

As a self-taught sculptor, he specialized in wood carving. Furthermore, he joined the «October 10» group in 1997 and also the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets as an independent artist since September. He was a Member of the Cuban Association of Craft Artists (ACAA) (November 1998 – August 2010) and Vice President of the Woodcarving manifestation of ACAA (2004 – 2010).

He has been interviewed several times by Cuban radio and television.

Integrated the National Commission to select prestigious personalities of art who were awarded on June 29, 2005 at the José Martí Memorial in Havana, Cuba.

Delegate of the Second Congress of the ACAA (June of 2005).

In 2010, he immigrated to Asturias, Spain with his family, currently working in his own studio «SigoArte».

The artist has donated his works several times to recognize national and international personalities, such as:

In January 2009, the emblematic work «Spurs, fire and passion» was chosen to be part of the background art for first-level gifts of the State Council of the Republic of Cuba. It was given to a distinguished political figure of the Russian state (apparently President Medvedev) during the official visit of President Raúl Castro Ruz to Russia in February 2009.
